Longleaf Forest Walk

Experience the beauty of one of the most endangered ecosystems, the longleaf pine forest. Learn the  historic use of longleaf, as well as its ecological characteristics, importance, and present-day management.  Program will include an extensive but leisurely hike through the forest and a visit to remains of a former  sawmill on Cat Island. Participants should be prepared to cross the Intracoastal Waterway via pontoon  boat, as well as around 3 miles of walking on relatively even ground. Bring a bag lunch and drink. Trips start  at 10:00 and run until approximately 2:00.
